According to §42 of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act (NHG) and Section 25 of the Basic Regulations, the Senate elects an Equal Opportunities Officer on the recommendation of the Equal Opportunities Commission.
The Equal Opportunities Officer is elected for the first time for a period of six years and, if re-elected, for a period of eight years. With the consent of the Senate, the appointment is permitted for a further term of office without a call for applications and in deviation from sentence 1. The Equal Opportunities Officer shall be employed on a full-time basis. To fulfill her duties, she shall have an Equal Opportunities Office at her disposal, which she shall manage.
Part-time equal opportunities officer
According to Section 42 (5) of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act (NHG) and Section 25 (2) of the Basic Regulations, the faculties, the central operating units, the general university administration and the research centers can elect part-time decentralized equal opportunities officers from among their female members. Depending on their affiliation, they are elected by the Faculty Council or appointed by the above-mentioned organizational unit.
The Senate must be informed of the election or appointment.
The decentralized Equal Opportunities Officers should be appropriately relieved upon request.
