When the websites are transferred to the new layout, the majority of these elements are implemented automatically. In addition, only the images and links need to be stored with the corresponding texts. An introduction to this can be found in the data center's editorial manual and in the training manual.
You are welcome to send your suggestions and requests as well as any questions to the e-mail address of Web AG e-mail address. All further information and documents on the TU Clausthal website can be found on the website of the Computer Center of the TU Clausthal.
Clausthal University of Technology provides the webReader reading software from ReadSpeaker, which enables texts on a website to be read out loud. The voice output of the text makes the information easier to understand, making the content more accessible and visitor-friendly. It is not necessary for the user to download the program; it can be used directly on the website. The web reader is activated on our website for the German and English languages. This service is available on the centrally managed websites (main page of the TUC, Equal Opportunities Office and Computer Center).
The webReader implements the following elements of digital accessibility:
- The contents of the website are read out loud
- It is possible for only a previously marked area to be read aloud
- The content can be read aloud in over 50 languages
- During the audio output of the content, the text passage is highlighted at the same time, making it easier to read along
- The translation of a selected text
- The reading speed and volume can be adjusted manually
- The dictionary function allows you to look up a word
- The font type, size and color can be adjusted
- The webReader can be operated entirely via keyboard input
In order to facilitate the implementation of digital accessibility in all areas, a handout is provided below. These contain the most important points according to the WCAG standards that should be taken into account when creating accessible websites, documents and forms.
