Gender equality work
- On January 29, 2021, the kick-off event for the WiMINToring mentoring program for young female scientists took place as an online event. Despite the digital format, there was no lack of a personal, authentic atmosphere. The highlight was the announcement and introduction of the ten mentoring tandems, who did not know each other at the time. After the successful, mostly very personal introductions of the mentee-mentor pairs, they were able to enter into more in-depth discussions in individual digital group rooms and start their mentoring relationship. Since the first run of the program from September 2019 to March 2020, a number of changes have been made: the program has been extended from six months to one year and various additional offers have been added. The program is once again fully booked with ten young female scientists who will be supported in their career development by top-class mentors. Here is the link to the press release.

- TU Clausthal has been participating in the state program since the winter semester 2020/2021: Niedersachsen-Technikum. The Niedersachsen-Technikum is an orientation program for (technical) high school graduates to inspire young women to study STEM subjects. On Wednesday, February 24, 2021, the closing event for this round of the Niedersachsen-Technikum took place, at which Prof. Schachtner, in his function as Chairman of the LHK Niedersachsen, gave a welcoming address. An external evaluation of the Lower Saxony Technical Center was carried out in 2020. The expert group clearly recommended that the MWK Lower Saxony continue and perpetuate the program. For the new run in 2021/2022, we have hired a coordinator for the Lower Saxony Technical Centre at Clausthal University of Technology, Ms Kirsten Wiemker, who is financed for one year from the MWK funds committed to the project.
