Gender equality work
- Mentoring has been established for many years as an important instrument in the career advancement of women and is also part of our personnel development concept. TU Clausthal has been running a successful mentoring program WiMINToring for young female scientists since 2019. Now we would like to give our female students in the Master's degree programs the same opportunity and are offering a WiMINToring mentoring program for female Master's students for the first time in the summer semester of 2022 with a focus on the start of their careers. The program started on 1 April 2022 with a digital kick-off event and will run until the end of the 2022 summer semester with a group of 15 mentees. In addition to mentoring discussions, our mentoring program offers workshops to strengthen personal skills, networking evenings, career coaching and excursions to career fairs. We have thus also created a structured program for female students at our university in the area of equal opportunities work and are holistically positioned with our offers. The press release can be found under this link.
- This year's Girls'Day and Boys'Day (Girls' and Boys' Future Day) took place on Thursday, April 28, 2022. Diversity management
- On June 13, 2022, the workshop on achieving the second milestone in presence took place as part of the diversity audit. One of the central measures in the audit is the development of the university's diversity strategy. The strategy group took on this task and discussed the final draft of the diversity strategy with the entire steering committee of the diversity audit at the last workshop. Once the steering committee's comments have been incorporated, the diversity strategy will be submitted to the university's committees for approval. The certification workshop with peer review is planned for November 14, 2022. The auditing process should come to an end (hopefully successfully) with the handover of the certificate in March 2023.
- In my role as Diversity Officer at Clausthal University of Technology, I am a new member of the Network Diversity at Universities has been accepted. - Between 7 and 10% of students at German universities belong to the LGBTIQ+ community. The Gay and Lesbian Initiative in Clausthal (SLIC) has been active at Clausthal University of Technology for around 5 years. On the initiative of the chairman of SLIC, the mountain and university town of Clausthal-Zellerfeld is participating in the International Day against Homo-, Bi-, Inter- and Transphobia on May 17, 2022. The rainbow flags were hung on two poles of our university (in front of the main building and in front of the library) for one day. The Student Union has also put up a flag in the canteen. In addition, the main building will be illuminated in rainbow colors in the evening. In this way, we are working together to promote more respect and tolerance in our society.
- On May 31, 2022, Clausthal University of Technology took part in the German Diversity Day, which was launched by the Diversity Charter, for the third time. The nationwide campaign for diversity in the world of work took place for the 10th time this year. Family service
- Our vacation care program in the first week of the Easter vacations (April 4 - 8, 2022), the so-called Children's Easter University, was once again a great success with ten children. In addition to the child-friendly activities offered by the Institute of Energy Process Engineering and Fuel Technology and the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry, the program with its diverse activities was themed around Easter. All in all, the TU Clausthal's vacation care programs, especially the summer holiday care, are very popular. This year there are very many registrations and a long waiting list. Once again, it is very clear how important the vacation childcare services are. The press release can be found under this link.
