Gender equality work

  • The third round of the WiMINToring mentoring program for young female scientists started with a kick-off event on January 27, 2023 on the premises of the CUTEC Research Center and will run until the end of 2023. The preparatory meetings for mentees and mentors took place a week earlier. The program is fully booked again, i.e. we have 10 participants who will be paired with a proven mentor from science and industry. Our mentoring program is accompanied by a supporting program consisting of various workshops, networking opportunities, visits to career fairs and career coaching sessions, with the mentoring discussions between mentees and mentors forming the core of the mentoring program. The aim of our mentoring program is to support our young female scientists in shaping their professional careers and to contribute to their personal development.
  • The women's network "Women&Science TU Clausthal" was launched around two years ago on March 10, 2021. The initiative for the new network emerged from participants in the first round of the WiMINToring mentoring program for young female scientists. The women's network celebrated its second birthday as part of the network evening on the topic of "Strategic Networking". The network evening is a format in which the focus is on exchanging ideas and networking with one another. At the same time, each network evening has a central theme. The networking evening on 10 March 2023 also formed an interface between the mentoring program WiMINToring for young female scientists and the women's network "Women&Science TU Clausthal".   • On February 28, 2023, the ceremonial closing event of the Lower Saxony Technikum at Clausthal University of Technology and farewell to our four participants took place in the auditorium. The technicians were very satisfied with the program and presented their exciting projects during the closing event. The program will be continued next winter semester.   • The Equal Opportunities Office was founded in 1992 as the Women's Office and we celebrated this anniversary in November 2022 in the Aula. The press release can be found under this link. A small exhibition on the history of gender equality work at Clausthal University of Technology, presented on twelve easels, has been on display in the lounge of the University Library since January 2023.
  • The Female Professors Program is the central instrument of the federal and state governments to promote gender equality at universities. The aim of the funding program is to dynamically increase the number of female academics in top positions in the academic field towards parity. On February 2, 2023, the federal-state agreement on the continuation of the Women Professors Program and the guideline for the implementation of the Women Professors Program 2030 were published in the official section of the Federal Gazette. The Female Professors Program 2030 is the fourth phase of the program and will run for eight years (2023 - 2030) with a total funding volume of 320 million euros.   • On March 20, 2023, the 3rd round of the dialog initiative "Gender Equitable University Culture - From Knowledge to Action" was ceremoniously concluded in the restaurant "Der Gartensaal" in the New Hanover Town Hall. The intensive process of the dialog initiative focused on gender equality in appointment procedures. Prof. Heike Schenk-Mathes, Acting President and part-time Vice President for Gender Equality and Promotion of Young Academics, and Dr. Natalia Schaffel-Mancini, Central Equal Opportunities Officer, took part in this event.

Diversity management

  • As part of the Stifterverband's diversity audit, the university has been certified after a successful two-year process. The certificate was ceremoniously presented on February 14, 2023 in Berlin as part of the final Diversity Forum. Prof. Bohn, representing the Presidential Board and member of the audit steering group, and Dr. Schaffel-Mancini, Diversity Officer and head of the audit, were present. Family service

  • Every year, Clausthal University of Technology organizes vacation childcare for a total of three weeks during the school vacations in Lower Saxony, which are also open to children of non-university members from Clausthal-Zellerfeld. Clausthal University of Technology works together with the mountain and university town of Clausthal-Zellerfeld. The town provides premises in the youth center on Klepperberg free of charge. Full-time Vice President Irene Strebl and Mayor Petra Emmerich-Kopatsch have now signed an open-ended contract to consolidate this cooperation, which has been in place for three years. At the signing of the contract, all those involved emphasized the importance of vacation care, which makes it easier to combine work or studies and family life.   • This year's vacation care during the Easter vacations, the so-called Children's Easter University , took place from March 23 to 27. All ten available places were taken and the children had a wonderful week, which was accompanied by various activities from the university and the region. As planned, two weeks of vacation care will be offered during the summer vacations. The first week will take place from July 10 to 14, 2023 and the second week from August 7 to 11, 2023.
