Gender equality work
- This year, the 11th edition of the university ranking according to gender equality aspects was published by the Competence Center Women in Science and Research. The evaluation for this ranking is based on data from the Federal Statistical Office from 2021. Changes over the last five years are also taken into account.
The aim of this ranking is to continuously compare the performance of universities in terms of gender equality across Germany using quantitative indicators.

For the reference year 2021, Clausthal University of Technology is in the middle group in the categories "Students" and "Doctorates" and in the bottom group for academic staff and professorships. The increase in the proportion of female professors is very pleasing. The proportion of female professors at our university has increased by seven percentage points to 12.5% in the last five years, which corresponds to a place in the top group.
- On September 15, 2023, the "Women&Science TU Clausthal" network evening took place with an invitation to all female scientists at Clausthal University of Technology. The format of the networking evening is also anchored in the WiMINToring mentoring program for young female scientists.
The highlight of the networking evening was the keynote speech by Robert Franken on the topic of "Attitude, privilege, culture. On framework conditions for a systemic transformation."

- Since August 15, 2023, Nina Bredereck has strengthened the team of the Equal Opportunities Office at Clausthal University of Technology as the new coordinator of the Lower Saxony Technikum.
A new technician was welcomed to Clausthal University of Technology on September 1, 2023. On September 5, 2023, the official launch event of this state program took place in Hanover, which our technician attended together with the coordinator. After the official welcoming ceremony with strong female role models in STEM professions, the female technicians from the various university locations in Lower Saxony were able to network.
Diversity management
- This year's annual diversity audit meeting took place at the Bonn Science Center on July 5, 2023. The aim of the annual meeting was to exchange experiences between representatives of audited and re-audited universities. The highlight of the annual meeting was the presentation by Prof. Dr. Karim Fereidooni on the topic of "Criticism of racism: What do I need to know? What can I do? What can my university do?". The next mandatory meeting for audited universities will take place in 2024.
- The Stifterverband celebrated the 10th anniversary of the "Shaping Diversity" diversity audit at an event entitled "Embrace Diversity - 10 Years of Diversity Audit". The festive event took place on July 6, 2023 at the Bonn Science Center and Clausthal University of Technology was represented by Prof. Heike Schenk-Mathes and Dr. Natalia Schaffel-Mancini.
Family service
- A total of 29 children of primary school age took advantage of this year's Children's Summer University. As planned, two weeks of vacation care were offered during the summer vacations, in the first and last week of the Lower Saxony school vacations. The childcare took place in the youth center of the mountain and university town of Clausthal-Zellerfeld from 08:00 to 14:00. In addition to sports activities in children's yoga and excursions to the Rammelsberg World Heritage Site and the Clausthal-Zellerfeld fire station, the vacation care program also offered plenty of opportunity to experiment in the university's institutes and facilities.

- Two new day carers have been welcomed to the "Uni-Mäuse" day care center: Manuela Meierdierks and Michael Molitor. Both are professionals with many years of experience in childcare. Mr. Molitor has specialized in the topic of "highly sensitive children" and Ms. Meierdierks is a specialist in the education of very young children. The "Uni-Mäuse" day care center offers all-day care for children aged 0 to 3 years.

- The sponsorship award for outstanding academic or student achievements duringthe family phase has been announced again this year, the call for applications has gone out to all employees and students by e-mail. The proposals (informal application, information on the challenging family situation, description of the special academic achievements) were submitted by August 15, 2023 and we look forward to receiving many applications. The sponsorship award is endowed with prize money of 1,000.00 euros and was awarded on October 27, 2023 during the ceremony in the auditorium.
